We have received daily inquiries about the difference between Ecotextil and other waterproofing products such as Scotchgard and Spartagard. So we decided to make a brief post talking about the main differences between these types of waterproofing. Scotchgard, Spartagard and Ecotextil protect the fabric against liquid and dirt stains, keeping the fabric in better condition. However, for these 3 products, good application is essential.

If not applied correctly, the products will work partially. Each with its peculiarity of application, which must be consulted with each manufacturer.

Scotchgard waterproofing is a product that uses perfluorooctane sulfonamide, which since 2009 has been considered a toxic substance according to the Stockholm Convention. The product is highly flammable and must be stored and used with care. To know more, Click here.

Spartagard waterproofing is a water-based protector that uses siloxanes (silicone) in its base. It is a product with a low odor level, it is not flammable and we did not find information on toxicity. However, the manufacturer recommends use by professionals using PPE's such as gloves.

Waterproofing Ecotextil is a product based on nanotechnology, which uses nanoparticulate SIO2 in aqueous medium. It is neither toxic nor flammable. SIO2 (Silica Dioxide) is the raw material for glass and is also found in fruits and vegetables. It is one of the most abundant organic materials in the world. Ecotextil has no smell and is colorless.
